Hailing from the small town of St-Jean-de-Matha, Genevieve was exposed to music from a very young age. After 2 years of relentless air drumming to Metallica songs, she met with her first true love when she received a drumkit as a gift from her father. She first started playing along to Metallica and Megadeth until she discovered the music of Queen, which would be an important revelation to her style, with complex vocal harmonies and bigger-than-life arrangements; unsurprisingly, she has since adopted the nickname “Queen”.

She lived through high school to the soundtrack of ‘70s and ‘80s rock, metal and big band jazz; she first joined the school ensemble and later the big band. It was also in that time that she first got into songwriting and developed her musical creativity.

In the year 2000, she completed a DEC in popular music at the Regional Cegep of Joliette. At that time, she joined the band Hermaphrodite, with whom she recorded her first album. Eventually, internal struggles within the band made her leave. She then played along with Shyna for awhile, a band with whom, among other things, she played the Emergenza battle of the bands.

Still looking for musicians with passion and the willpower to drive it, Queen took part in the Arts de la Scène in Joliette in 2006; there she would meet with other musicians with whom she started two projects: The Flicker Show, a pop-rock band with whom she would eventually record a demo, and The Mams, a rock-metal band which would later become Destrier. These projects enabled her to work on all aspects of musical and vocal arrangements, sharpen her drumming skills, and develop a taste for singing and drumming at the same time.

Both bands enjoyed a certain degree of local success, but Queen was still on the lookout for something new and it was in March of 2012 that she met with Shine Lion. The whole band immediately felt connected, and she has since been pounding those skins and singing her heart out with Shine Lion.
